Described by Africans as a religion that was brought to the continent, Christianity is perceived as a Western faith. Togolese people are believers par excellence. They are conscious of the existence of a supreme being—God—who governs all of our existence. Some 29% of Togo's population practices Christianity.

They believe in Jesus Christ as their savior and hope that he will one day return to save them. Churches have been erected throughout the country. Togolese Christians observe all the major feasts inscribed in the Christian calendar, notably the Nativity (Christmas), Easter, Ascension, Assumption, and others.
