Located 50 km from Kara, Kandé opens the door to Koutammakou and its Unesco-listed takienta dwellings. Bustling market, Tamberma people, Kéran park: northern Togo in a nutshell.

Situated 50 km from Kara, Kandé is the last major town before crossing Kéran park. It serves as a resting point on the route connecting the South and North of the country. The population is primarily composed of farmers. The Kotokoli merchant community, mostly originating from Bafilo, holds sway here. Kandé is also renowned for its vibrant market.

At Kandé, visitors can discover the Koutammakou landscape, inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage list. An exceptional site both for the authentic character of local populations and their traditional habitat: the takienta.
