Keeper of Togolese traditions, based in Lomé

Togo is a country of encounters above all. It's often the simplest exchanges that leave the strongest memories.

Isaac

Originally from Benin, Isaac accompanies travelers with a desire to showcase a warm country, deeply vibrant and still largely untouched by mass tourism. Attached to the cultural richness of his territory, he enjoys building trips that allow visitors to understand Togo through its markets, villages, landscapes and traditions. From the beaches of the Gulf of Guinea to the lush mountains of the interior, from traditional ceremonies to daily encounters, Isaac favors a human and immersive approach to travel. He likes to take time for exchanges and show a sincere Togo, carried by the warmth and energy of its inhabitants. His approach is based on proximity, curiosity and respect for local cultures, in order to offer balanced, authentic and deeply human experiences.

Everything you need to know about Togo

Our local experts share their knowledge to prepare your trip.

When to visit Togo?

Togo can be discovered almost year-round, but two windows really stand out. The long dry season, from November to February, offers clear mornings and comfortable temperatures, ideal for traveling through the country from south to north. It's also the season of the harmattan, a wind from the Sahel that tempers the heat but sometimes veils the landscapes in an ochre haze. From July to September, a short dry season settles in, greener and more lush, perfect for hiking in the Kloto massif around Kpalimé. April-June and October are generally best avoided, as rainfall is heavy and certain tracks in the north become unpredictable, particularly toward Kéran or Kara.

What budget should you plan for a trip to Togo?

A trip to Togo remains relatively affordable compared to other African destinations, but the budget depends mainly on the pace you choose and the level of comfort you seek. For a two-week circuit with a private vehicle, English-speaking driver, quality accommodations and guided visits to the tata villages in the north or voodoo sanctuaries on the coast, you should budget an average of €1,800 to €2,500 per person excluding international flights. If you opt for a more budget-friendly experience, with local guesthouses and simpler stops, you can significantly reduce costs. Flights from Paris to Lomé range between €700 and €1,100 depending on the season and airline.

Why organize your trip with a local agency in Togo?

Togo is not a country where everything can be found on the Internet. Many truly memorable experiences — attending an animist ceremony in Glidji, staying with a local family in Nadoba during Dipantra, walking through the fetish market of Akodessewa with someone who knows its codes — depend on human relationships patiently built on the ground. As an English-speaking local agency based in Lomé, we work directly with drivers, Tamberma guides, craftspeople in Kpalimé, and boatmen on Lake Togo. This transforms the quality of encounters, the relevance of our advice, and our responsiveness when unexpected situations arise. It also ensures that travel spending stays here, in the villages we visit.

What to see on a trip to Togo?

Long and narrow, Togo unfolds naturally from south to north, following the shifting landscapes. The journey often begins in Lomé, with its coconut-lined seafront, bustling great market, and the unsettling proximity of Akodessewa. Then heading to Togoville and the lake, the cradle of voodoo, before moving up toward Kpalimé and the waterfalls of the plateau, where coffee and cocoa grow in the shadow of forests. Further north, Atakpamé, Sokodé, and the Kara region herald Kabye country, with its blacksmiths and initiation rites. The journey culminates in the Koutammakou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the raw earth tata somba dwellings tell of a different Africa—more discreet, deeply alive.
